A Detailed Autobiography Story of one Man’s Life Journey

How The Burma Railroad Shaped The Life Of An Ex-POW Of World War II is the detailed auto-biographical story of one man’s life journey. Friedrich Klutzow is a man with a dramatic and unique history. From the start of his life, he found himself traveling several nations. He was in a war, taken as a POW, and he was a doctor, but throughout his life, he maintained a tempered and unshaken faith. This story takes you through the hard times and the fun times and dispenses some of Klutzow’s own personal wisdom and reflections.

Merlene Hutto Byars has found, in her husband, a remarkable subject and she has recounted his story dutifully and respectfully. The writing reads like a personal conversation, and you can almost hear Klutzow’s words as you read it. The level of detail on events that happened so long ago is remarkable, and much of the information available is interesting and even, at times, quite gripping. That said, the work can sometimes be too detailed, to the point of being laborious, and at times the work can be too much tell, and too little show. As a personal memoir, however, that’s rather par for the course.

There are few POW’s stories that fail to grip the audience, and it’s always the life that follows such events that is the most interesting and the most dramatic. Klutzow’s life is no exception. How The Burma Railroad Shaped The Life Of An Ex-POW Of World War II is a fireside chat with an experienced and adventured man, if you have the patience and interest to listen.
